Pune, 28th May 2024: The young hip-hop artist who created a controversial rap mocking the victims of the Porsche car accident in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar, which resulted in two fatalities, did not attend the interrogation session scheduled by Pune Police. The cyber cell of Pune City Police had issued a summons for questioning, but the artist, identified as Aryan Dev Neekhra, failed to appear. The incident has sparked curiosity regarding the police’s next steps in addressing the matter.

The rap video, which went viral, drew widespread condemnation for its insensitive portrayal of the tragic incident. Initially, there was confusion as people speculated that the artist might be the minor accused in the accident. However, clarification from the minor’s mother revealed otherwise, identifying the creator as a content creator from New Delhi. Subsequently, Pune Police filed a case against Aryan Neekhra, a 22-year-old native of Madhya Pradesh.

In a statement, Neekhra admitted, “I created the video to gain fame and increase my followers. Given the incident’s notoriety, I saw an opportunity to capitalize on it.” Following the registration of the case by Pune Police, Neekhra released another video defending himself, stating, “I am a content creator, and the police should drop the charges against me. My parodies were taken out of context, and I am being wrongly targeted to divert attention from the actual tragedy. While the minor involved comes from a wealthy family, I am a middle-class individual and feel unfairly persecuted.” Neekhra faces charges under IPC sections 509, and 294 as well as section 67 of the Information Technology Act.
