Holiday declared on 27 Sep for all schools, colleges in five Taluka

Pune, September 26, 2019 : Due to heavy rains on Wednesday-Thursday night, there is a flood like situation in several parts of Pune.

 

In the wake of the worsening like situation, Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram has declared holiday for all schools, colleges located in Pune city, Haveli, Purandar, Bhor and Baramati talukas, on September 27 (Friday). He had declared holiday on Thursday for same reason.

 

The casualty due to rain-related incidents have led to death of 12 persons in Pune city and six in rural areas of the Pune district. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy rains till September 28 in Pune district.

 

After the heavy rains on Wednesday-Thursday, many areas in Pune city including Wanowrie, Kondhwa, Bibvewadi, Katraj, Dhankawadi, Sahakarnagar, Dattawadi, Sinhgad road, faced flood like situation with water entering homes of people. The Satara Road was resembled a river and people were stuck for hours there.

 

After the rains were over, there was mud all over these areas. One person was found dead in his car, while two others driving cars in Wanowrie are still missing.

 

According to National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), three teams are deployed from 5 NDRF Pune for search and rescue operation.
