Pune: Kumar Builders Chairman Lalit Kumar Jain, 4 others booked for cheating flat buyers of Rs 14 crores

Pune, September 27, 2019: Famous builder Lalit Kumar Jain of Kumar Builders and four others have been booked by Pune city police for allegedly accepting Rs 14.20 crores from people but not giving them flat.

Based on a complaint from Khemraj Motiram Gopale (67) and 23 others, an FIR has been registered with Kothrud police station.

According to police, the incident took place between May 27, 2009, and 16 May 2019, at 45 Nirvana Hills, located near Paud phata on Karve road. The complainant had paid Rs 79 lakhs but he did not get the promised flat within the stipulated period of three years.

Those named in the FIR are Kumar Sinew Developers Ltd, Sinew Developers Pvt Ltd, Lalit Kumar Jain, Rakesh Sinha, and Aparna Goyal. They have been charged for offences under sections (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Ownership of Flat Act (MOFA).

Senior police inspector Pratibha Joshi, in-charge of Kothrud police station, is further investigating the case.

The version of Kumar Builders will be included in the report after getting their response.
