Nagpur, January 11, 2021: Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has made a big announcement of the police recruitment in the state. He announced that a recruitment process would be for 12,538 posts in the police department. The recruitment process for 5,300 posts will be completed in the first phase. The remaining posts will be filled in the second phase, informed Deshmukh.

He said that even after filling up 12,538 posts, more personnel would be recruited in the police department if required. He was speaking to the media in Nagpur on Monday.

The Home Department decided to recruit police in 2019 and the advertisement was published accordingly. However, the police recruitment process was halted on September 9, 2020, after the Supreme Court granted an interim stay on the ‘SEBC’ reservation. A few days back, the state government had announced its decision to conduct the police recruitment process in the state without SEBC reservation.

However, this decision is being strongly opposed by Maratha organizations and leaders. Therefore, there is uncertainty over the police recruitment process. However, now Deshmukh’s statement shows that the Home Department is adamant on its decision.

The state Home Department has decided not to have SEBC reservation for conducting police recruitment process in the state. The age limit of the open category will be applied while determining the eligibility of the candidates who have applied from SEBC. The state government has issued an order in this regard. It has been decided that the candidates who fulfil the terms and conditions of the open category should be considered from the open category.

Those who apply from SEBC will be charged an open category examination fee. Examination fees will be allowed to be paid online. Proceedings must be completed within 15 days. The Director-General of Police has been directed to implement this decision immediately and submit a report to the government.
