Hyderabad: Fire Caused During Car Repair, Several Killed While Many Rescued

Hyderabad, November 13, 2023 – A tragic accident took place in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, on Monday (13 November), the next day of Diwali. Nine people died of burn injuries in a fire that broke out in a warehouse. This accident occurred during car repair work that was going on in a warehouse, when chemicals kept nearby caught fire. Within no time the fire engulfed the surrounding area and many people came under its influence.

As soon as information about the fire was received, several fire brigade vehicles reached the spot. The fire was so severe that fire brigade personnel had to work hard to control the fire. Apart from this, fire personnel are working to save the people trapped in the nearby building. According to sources, apart from 9 deaths, three people have been seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. A video of the accident has been released by news agency ANI, in which it can be seen that fire personnel are rescuing people by using ladders.

Giving information about the incident, DCP Venkateshwar Rao of Hyderabad Central Zone said that this accident happened in Bazaarghat of Nampally, Hyderabad, where a fire broke out in a warehouse located in an apartment complex.

DG Fire Services Nagi Reddy expressed the possibility that chemicals might have been stored illegally in the building. “Chemicals were stored in the stilt area (parking) of the building and the fire broke out due to these chemicals. A total of 21 people were rescued, out of which 6 people died, while 6 people are undergoing treatment”, he said. Adding further, he stated that everyone had been rescued from the apartment building.
