IAF Airlifts Human Heart From Nagpur to Pune For Ailing Staffer
Pune 27th July 2023: The Indian Air Force on Wednesday airlifted a live human transplant from Nagpur to Pune to transplant it into an air force official admitted at Pune’s Army Institute of Cardio-Thoracic Sciences (AICTS). The 39-year-old air force personnel has been admitted here for the last four four months due to a chronic heart condition.
A 31-year-old woman’s heart was transported on Wednesday soon after the doctors received alert about availability of donor at Nagpur. A green corridor was provided for the transport by the authorities.
“A live human heart was airlifted in an #IAF AN-32 aircraft from Nagpur to Pune this morning to be transplanted in a recipient admitted in the Army Institute of Cardio Thoracic Sciences” Air Force PRO said.
“The heart was moved through a green corridor created by the civil administration and flown to Pune in the most expeditious manner” he added.
