Pune, 1st September 2023: In a significant milestone for railway infrastructure, the speed trial at 130 kilometers per hour (KMPH) was successfully completed on the Igatpuri-Bhusawal-Badnera rail section spanning a distance of 526.76 kilometers. The trials, conducted from August 26th to August 30th, 2023, encompassed both UP and DOWN directions and featured six prominent mail express trains.

 

The selected trains for the trials included:

 

12289 CSMT-Nagpur Duronto Express

12290 Nagpur-CSMT Express

12105 CSMT-Gondia Vidarbha Express

12106 Gondia-CSMT Vidarbha Express

12859 CSMT-Howrah Gitanjali Express

12860 Howrah-CSMT Gitanjali Express

 

These trials marked an impressive achievement for railway operations, as they demonstrated the feasibility and safety of operating trains at the increased speed of 130 KMPH on this particular rail stretch.

 

Notable time-saving benefits were observed during the trials, with an average reduction of 28 minutes in the DOWN direction and 30 minutes in the UP direction. This time-saving potential holds promise for improving overall travel efficiency and punctuality for passengers utilizing these routes.

 

As part of the broader vision, a total of 67 trains are slated to be operated at the enhanced speed of 130 KMPH on the Igatpuri-Bhusawal-Badnera section, which falls within the Bhusawal division. The successful completion of the speed trials has paved the way for the next stages of implementation, involving the regular operation of trains at this higher speed.

 

Railway authorities are now moving forward with the necessary procedures to ensure the seamless and safe regular operation of these mail express trains at 130 KMPH.
