Illegal Hookah Bar Busted at Jashn Pune, Owner Among Seven Booked for Violations
Wanowrie, 28th October 2025: The Pune City Police have busted an illegal hookah bar operating out of Jashn on Salunke Vihar Road, exposing violations related to tobacco and liquor regulations. The raid, carried out on the night of October 26, revealed that the establishment was running a hookah bar without mandatory permissions.
During the operation, police seized several tobacco-laced hookah flavors and a stock of beer bottles found stored unlawfully on the premises. The primary accused has been identified as Mohammad Saleh Shukri (41), who, along with six others, has been booked under relevant sections of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2018 and the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
According to the police, the case has been registered under Sections 4(A) and 21(A) of COTPA and 65(D) of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
The complaint was lodged by Yatin Bhosale of the Wanowrie Police Station, and PSI Jadhav has been assigned to lead the investigation.
