Pune 4th Sept 2023: After a long dry spell, the rain is set to return to Pune and majority of the districts in Maharashtra. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Pune district for the next three days and has predicted heavy rainfall in ghat areas of the district.

According to IMD, ‘Heavy rainfall at isolated places in ghat areas’ is likely to be reported in Pune on September 5, 6 and 7. This comes as a good sign for citizens as the district has not received a good rainfall for a long time and the farmers are worried for their crops. The water levels in the dams supplying water to Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad also reported less storage compared to the storage recorded on the same day last year.

Apart from Pune, the IMD has also issued yellow alert for other districts in Maharashtra for these three days including Kolhapur, Satara, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurga, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim and Yavatmal.
