Pune, 19th March 2024: Daytime temperatures experienced a slight dip across various sectors of the city on Monday. According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shivajinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 35.4°C, while Pashan followed closely behind at 35.2°C. However, other parts of Pune saw relatively higher temperatures, with Lohegaon hitting 36°C, Lavale at 37.9°C, and Koregaon Park at 37.1°C.

IMD’s forecasts suggest a potential increase in temperature until March 24, with daytime temperatures expected to climb up to 38°C in most Pune areas. An official from the IMD noted anticipations of dry weather prevailing over Konkan-Goa for the next five to seven days. “While there may be isolated instances of very light rain in parts of Madhya Maharashtra on Tuesday, Pune isn’t likely to see any precipitation during this timeframe. Dry weather conditions are projected to persist thereafter,” the official stated.

In the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions, the IMD anticipates light rain in isolated areas over the next couple of days, with a possibility of thunderstorm activity in select locations.

The IMD’s Monday update highlighted the presence of a cyclonic circulation over west Vidarbha, along with troughs extending from south Tamil Nadu to west Vidarbha and from Jharkhand to north coastal Andhra Pradesh in the lower tropospheric levels. Additionally, an anti-cyclonic circulation was observed over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast.

These weather patterns are expected to bring scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds to Vidarbha until Wednesday. Hailstorms are also anticipated over Vidarbha during this period. Marathwada may experience isolated light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, with a chance of hailstorms on Tuesday.
