Ø   FOUR ACCUSED ARRESTED FORMAKING/SUPPLYING DUPLICATE/ CLONED PHONES.

Ø    ONE STAMPING & COMPRESSOR MACHINE, DYE OF LOGO OFMOBILE BRANDS AND STICKERS RECOVERED.

INTRODUCTION:-

Crime Branch has arrested four persons namely (i) Ravinder Pal Singh (43 yrs) s/o late Sardar Sudarshan Singh, r/oSantgarh, Tilak Nagar, Delhi, (ii) Sukhdev Singh (32 yrs) s/o Joginder Singh r/oVillage Alipur Majra, Distt. Rampur, UP, (iii) Ranjeet Singh (24 yrs)  s/o Sh. Baldev Singh r/o Village Khandiya, Distt.Rampur, UP, (iv) Kirandeep Singh (38 yrs) s/o Sardar Santok Singh, r/o RajouriGarden, Delhi for making/supplying duplicate/cloned mobile phones of various renowned brands. At their instance, more than 10 thousand duplicate/cloned mobile phones of different make and brandsworth Rs.2 crore plus in retail market, have been recovered in continuation tothe recovery earlier affected from Lajpat Rai market.

INVESTIGATION, TEAM AND OPERATION: –

Recently large cache of duplicate/cloned mobile phones of various renowned brands wererecovered from Lajpat Rai Market vide case FIR No. 172/15, dated 1.12.15 u/s 63 CopyRight Act & 420/468/471/483/486 IPC, PS Crime Branch. During investigationof the case, SI Vipin Yadav found out that seized duplicate/cloned mobilephones were being checked physically by suppliers/importers before selling themin market. The SIM cards used for checking mobile phones were found in the nameof one Ravinder Pal Singh. On further analysis, it was found that the IMEImentioned on the instrument and in the software are different.

Further, IMEI mentioned in these duplicatemobile phones were found already registered towards other branded mobilephones. Such duplicate mobile phones are sold in open market in huge quantitywhich may be not only misused by criminals but terrorists also and thus pose athreat to national security.

Accordingly, team led by ACP N.K. Meena andconsisting of Insp. Surender Dalal, SIs Vipin Yadav, Vishal, HCs Sunil, Pradeep,Shivcharan, Cts. Suresh, Ajay & Manoj under the supervision of DCP RajeevSharma was constituted and four accused persons namely Ravinder Pal Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Ranjeet Singh and Kirandeep Singh were nabbed for making/supplying duplicate/cloned mobilephones of various renownedbrands. At their instance, more than 10 thousand duplicate/cloned mobile phones ofdifferent make and brands worth Rs. 2 crore in retail market, have beenrecovered from a godown in Matiala.

Oneof the main importers/suppliers has been identified as Inder Pal Singh who isabsconding. Efforts are being made to trace the retailers who are selling thesephones in open market as original and earning huge profit by cheating public atlarge.

MODUS OPERANDI: –

Accused KirandeepSingh alongwith his partner Inder Pal (absconding) imports duplicate parts of mobilephones of different make and brands from China. Accused Ravinder Pal Singh,with the help of accused Sukhdev Singh andRanjeet Singh assemble these partsat Matiala godown. They would put logo of different brands on the duplicatemobile phones with the help of stamping machine and sticker of IMEI on theinstrument. Then, they would pack and supply the duplicate mobile phones inopen market in Delhi.

PROFILE: –

1. AccusedRavinder Pal Singh has studied up to 10^thstandard. After leavingschool, he worked as refrigerator mechanic in Ramesh Nagar. Then for 5-6 years,he worked at a service centre of Samsung Company at Tilak Nagar. Later, he camein contact with accused Kirandeep Singh and Inder Pal Singh in 2007 and startedworking in their company as manager. He used to handle and supervise theassembling of duplicate mobile phones at Patel Nagar and Uttam Nagargodowns.
2. AccusedSukhdev has studied up to 8^thstandard. He had come to Delhi insearch of Job and came in contact with Inder Pal Singh and Kirandeep Singh inDelhi and started working for them. He used to assemble duplicate mobile phonesat Patel Nagar and Uttam Nagar godowns.
3. AccusedRanjeet Singh was born and brought up in UP. He has studied up to 10^thstandard. He came to Delhi in August 2015 in search of work and met Inder PalSingh through his cousin. He used to assemble duplicate mobile phones ofdifferent make and brands at Uttam Nagar godown.
4. AccusedKirandeep Singh belongs to Kurukshetra, Haryana and he is a graduate. In 1992,he went to Bankok and stayed there for 10 years. He worked as productionmanager in a garment factory. In 2001, he went to USA and worked there for 12yrs and took citizenship of USA. In 2012, he came to India and initially startedmanufacturing of mobile batteries in the name of Kricket at Manesar and then atMatiala but suffered huge losses. Then he alongwith his cousin Inder Pal Singhstarted importing parts of duplicate mobile phones of different make and brandsfrom China and the same were being assembled at Patel Nagar and Uttam Nagar godowns.

RECOVERY: –

1. More than 10 thousand duplicate mobile phones ofdifferent brands worth Rs. 2 crore in retail market.
2. One stamping and compressor machine.
3. Dye different mobile phones for putting fake logo.
4. Stickers of various brands, etc.
