In these areas of PCMC, shops will not be allowed to open
Pimpri, May 4, 2020: Except for the containment zones, the rest of the area under Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will be allowed to start single shops in addition to those selling essential items. A maximum of five such shops will be allowed in a street or lane. For this, Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar has ordered to form a committee at the ward level. The ward officer will preside over the committee.
All malls, shopping malls, markets in the city will remain closed during the lockdown period. Paan stalls, salons and spa centres cannot be started. The committee will decide to allow shops other than essential items to ensure smooth day-to-day operations in all areas except 21 containment zones in the city. The committee will consist of an executive engineer and a deputy engineer, a tax inspector and a beat inspector.
Essential commodities like milk, vegetable, fruit, grocery stores, all types of dispensaries, hospitals, clinics, maternity wards and medical stores do not need permission. While permitting the shops, the committee will give priority to sweet shops, bakeries, hardware shops, electric shops, spectacles shops, children’s clothing shops, electronics and mobile shops, garages etc.
The committee constituted wants to consider the structure of each ward in the city and allow the above shops in each main road/chowk/alley by scrutinizing the applications received in rotation. If there are multiple applications for the same type of shop in the same lane, they should also be allowed to rotate, the commissioner clarified. Also, if there are shops in several main roads / chowks / alleys in the same ward, they will also continue to rotate. The shops will be open from 10 am to 4 pm in all areas except those in the containment zones.

Commissioner Hardikar has clarified that shops other than essential items (necessities of life) will not be allowed at Chinchwad Station, Pimpri Camp, Sai Chowk, Shagun Chowk (Pimpri), Gandhi Peth, Chapekar Chowk (Chinchwad), Kalewadi Main Road (MM School to Kalewadi River Bridge), Ajmera Colony (Pimpri), Moshi Chowk, Moshi-Alandi Road, Maharana Pratap Chowk, Nigdi Bus Stop (Nigdi), Dange Chowk to Kalewadi Fata, Bhosari-Alandi Road, Kaverinagar Market, Kasturi Market, Thermax Chowk to Sane Chowk, Dighi Jakat Naka to Magazine Chowk and Sai Baba Temple.
