New Delhi, June 11, 2020: India has become the fourth most testing country in the world for Coronavirus. 3500 people per 10 lakh population has been tested.
The test for identification of COVID19 patients in the country crossed 50 lakh on Wednesday. According to the Indian Medical Council for Research (ICMR), there have been 50,61,332 tests in the country so far. In these, 2 lakh 77 thousand people were found COVID positive. This means that 5.48% of the people tested have been infected.
USA is four times ahead of India in testing. So far, 22,050,891 people have been screened in America. Among them, 9.23% of people have been infected. The worst situation is in Brazil. So far, one million people have been investigated there. Among them, 74.22% ie 7 lakh 42 thousand 084 people are corona positive.
In UAE, 2 lakh 52 thousand people are being investigated for every one million population. If you look at the statistics of testing per one million population, the UAE is at number one in the world. There 2 lakh 52 thousand 963 people are being investigated in every one million population. 95 thousand people are tested on the same population in Spain, 92 thousand in Qatar, 89 thousand people in Russia. India is at the bottom number four in this list of 30 countries. Right now only 3 thousand 462 people are being examined per one million population.
More than 1.4 lakh tests are being conducted every day in India
In India, even though there is very less testing per one million population, it has seen much increase compared to before. Till lockdown phase 3, only 20 to 50 thousand people were screened in the country. Now more than one lakh 40 thousand people are being tested daily. At present, samples of Corona are taken at 590 government labs and 233 private labs in the country. The number of these labs is being increased. There are more than 5 lakh tests in US every day.
Tamil Nadu has the highest number of people screened, Maharashtra second
Corona has the highest testing in Tamil Nadu. So far, 5 lakh 28 thousand 434 people have been screened there. Of these, 4.9% have been found infected. So far, 4 lakh 98 thousand 577 people have been screened in Maharashtra. 14.5% of these people have been found infected. Uttar Pradesh is the largest in terms of population. So far, 3 lakh 15 thousand 542 tests have been done. 2.8% of these people were found to be corona positive.
