Pune, 2nd October 2022: India defeated South Africa, on 2nd October 2022, at Barsapara Stadium Guwahati, in the second T-20 by 16 runs. South Africa won the toss and elected to bowl due to the nature of the pitch. India posted a mammoth target of 238 for the Proteas losing three wickets. South Africa faced defeat despite a century by David Miller and a 174-run partnership between him and Quinton De Kock. India continued their streak of consecutive series wins at home taking the number to 11. The top scorer of the match was David Miller with 106 runs in 47 balls. He smashed at a strike rate of 225.5 with eight fours and seven maximums.

 

From India Suryakumar Yadav was the highest scorer with a quick fire of 61 runs in 22 deliveries. He was accompanied by KL Rahul who also scored 58 runs in mere 28 balls. Virat Kohli fell one short of his half-century as he stayed not out on 49. The Proteas in return put up a fierce batting performance. The duo of Miller and Quinton stole the show with their heroics with Adien Markaram supporting with 33 runs in 19 balls. Arshdeep Singh picked up two scalps. Axar Patel had to content himself with one wicket.

 

India has secured an unassailable lead in the series. The last match will be played on 4th October, Tuesday at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore. This will be the last match before India begins its campaign for the upcoming T-20 World Cup.
