Indian Academy of Pediatrics Hosts 25th PEDICRITICON 2023 in Pune with International Pediatric Leaders

Pune, 2nd December 2023: The Indian Academy of Pediatrics hosted the 25th PEDICRITICON, an annual National Conference of its Intensive Care Chapter, at Hyatt Regency, Pune, from December 1st to 3rd, 2023. The event, which revolved around the theme, “Pediatric Critical Care: Combining Evidence with Experience” saw monumental participation of both renowned and aspiring intensivists and pediatricians from across the globe. The 3-day conference hosted over 1,000 delegates, including 200 national and international faculty members, with 11 workshops across eight different hospitals.

The event aims to bring together academicians, researchers, and scholars annually to highlight the key developments and exchange ideas in the Pediatric Critical Care Medicine field, including the most recent innovations, trends, and practical challenges. The conference also organised an exceptional nursing workshop for nearly 120 nurses, in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, who deputed their nursing staff at the workshops.

Over the span of three days, PEDICRITICON consists of myriad of workshops, continuing medicinal education (CME), scientific sessions, plenary sessions, debates, orations, and oral and poster presentations from several national and international speakers. The focal points of the conference revolved around pivotal developments in the pediatric sector, including life-threatening conditions like acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and their treatment modalities, organ transparent scenarios, futuristic approaches in Pediatric Critical Care, and medico-legal issues in the industry.

Dr. Sachin Shah, Organizing Secretary- PEDICRITICON 2023 PUNE and Director of Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Services at Surya Mother and Child Super Speciality Hospital, Pune, stated, “Pediatric intensive care services have undoubtedly progressed over the last couple of decades; however, there is still a long road to cover. PEDICRITICON offers learnings from industry experts in recognizing and focusing on overcoming challenges around Pediatric Intensive Care. These challenges include post-ICU care of the patient, transporting the child in need of intensive care to a higher center in time, vaccination and nutrition, management of complex disorders, focus on mental and holistic well-being of the child, and the adoption of technological advancements at all healthcare institutions to ensure preeminent critical care services to our pediatric patients. The focal points of the conference revolved around pivotal developments in the pediatric sector, including life-threatening conditions like acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and their treatment modalities, organ transplant scenarios, futuristic approaches in Pediatric Critical Care, and medico-legal issues in the industry.”

PEDICRITICON 2023 recorded huge success over its three-day discourse among its cohorts and aims to further garner the required attention in the field of pediatric and neonatal critical care services, while also brainstorming solutions to combat the challenges in the industry.
