Indian Army Invites Applications for JAG Entry for Law Graduates

New Delhi, 29th January 2026: The Indian Army has issued the JAG notification, inviting applications from unmarried male and female law graduates for Short Service Commission in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Branch. This recruitment is aimed at strengthening the legal cadre of the Army with qualified advocates.

A total of eight vacancies are available for unmarried male and female candidates. Eligible applicants must be Indian citizens, subjects of Bhutan or Nepal, Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, or persons of Indian origin from select countries intending to settle permanently in India. Candidates must be between 21 and 27 years of age as of 1 July 2026 and hold an LLB degree with at least 55% aggregate marks from a Bar Council-recognized college or university. In addition, a valid CLAT PG 2025 score is mandatory, and applicants must be eligible for registration with the Bar Council of India or respective State Bar Council. How to Apply:
-Applications will only be accepted online via www.joinindianarmy.nic.in
-Candidates must register or log in, complete the application form carefully, and submit details across segments including personal information, communication, education, and prior SSB participation.
-After submission, candidates must download two copies of the application with Roll Number, 30 minutes after the closure of online submissions.

Selection Procedure:
-Applications will be shortlisted at the discretion of the Integrated HQ of MoD (Army). Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email about their Selection Centre allotment.
-Selection Centres are located at Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), Bangalore (Karnataka), and Jalandhar (PB). Candidates will select SSB dates on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to final allocation by the Directorate General of Recruiting.
-The SSB selection is a two-stage process lasting five days. Candidates clearing Stage I proceed to Stage II; those failing Stage I are returned the same day. Successful candidates will then undergo a medical examination.
