Indian Medical Association to hold a protest to condemn the attack on doctors

Pune, 17th June 2021: Doctors who were risking their lives to provide medical services are being attacked in every corner of the country. The national branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has called for one day protest on Friday, 18th June 2021. Doctors from the Pune branch of the Indian Medical Association will wear black ribbons to show their support for the protest.

 

IMA Pune Branch President Dr B. L. Deshmukh and President of Hospital Board of India Pune Branch Dr Sanjay Patil informed about the protest day. Dr Patil said, “We will continue to provide medical services which we have provided for the last one and a half year, but to condemn the attacks on doctors in the country we will participate in the protests. IMA doctors will wear black ribbons and black masks to justify Friday’s protest.

Dr Deshmukh said,” security should be enhanced in all hospitals. The cases against those who attack doctors and medical staff should be prosecuted in fast track courts. The IMA is demanding strict punishment for the accused at the national level. We are reiterating those demands at all levels.”
