Indian Navy Launches Comprehensive Outreach Program In Ladakh To Encourage Youth Participation In Defense Services
New Delhi, 6th July 2023: The Indian Navy announced on Thursday that it has initiated a comprehensive outreach program in Ladakh, with a specific focus on encouraging increased involvement of youth from the region in the defence services. Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar will be hosting various outreach activities in Leh on July 6 and 7 as part of this program.
This outreach initiative is particularly significant in light of the ongoing border dispute between Indian and Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh. The Indian Navy stated that it is committed to the national leadership’s vision of developing remote areas and has therefore launched a multi-dimensional outreach program to strengthen its ties with the union territory of Ladakh.
The primary objective of this program is to foster greater participation of Ladakhi youth in the defence services, contribute to nation-building efforts, and promote maritime awareness in the region. The Navy aims to achieve these goals through a series of events, including a performance by a naval band, a friendly football match, and the commencement of a bike and car expedition, among others.
To inspire and encourage youth participation, naval personnel hailing from Ladakh and stationed at various naval bases are actively participating in these events. They will be sharing their enriching experiences and success stories, emphasizing the importance of joining the Indian Navy and contributing to the nation’s progress.
During his visit, Admiral Kumar will also pay a visit to the Lt Governor of Ladakh, Brig BD Mishra (Retd), and pay respects at the war memorial by laying a wreath. Last year, it is worth mentioning that the Indian Navy undertook comparable outreach initiatives in the North East region.
