Indian Railways Recruitment: 2.4 Crore Candidates Apply For 1.4 lakh Vacancies

Pune, December 12, 2020: Indian Railways has issued a notification for recruitment on 1.4 lakh vacancies. Under this, mainly three things have been said. The first is that between December 15 and December 18, there will be examinations for the isolated and ministerial categories. Secondly, there will be first phase examinations from December 28 to March mid and third, level one category exams will be from April 21. About 1.15 crore candidates have applied for the vacancies. Around 2.5 million applicants have been applied for a total of 1.4 lakh posts. All the exams will be computer-based.

Approximately 2.40 crore candidates have applied

Railway had issued three employment notices some time back. These included recruitment under CEN 01/2019 (NTPC categories), CEN 03/2019 (isolated and ministerial categories) and RRC-01/2019 (level one categories). In total, there are 1.4 lakh posts to be admitted in all three categories, for which about 2.40 crore candidates have applied.

In this regard, the ministry has said that they have made complete preparations for the computer-based exam starting on December 15. For the three notifications, the notification of CBT schedule i.e. computer-based test schedule will be uploaded soon on the RRB website.

What is in the notification?

In the notification issued by RRB, it is said that between December 15 to December 18, there will be an examination for the Isolated and Ministerial categories. There are 1,633 posts of steno, teacher, translator etc. under this category, for which about 1.03 lakh candidates have applied.

Similarly, the second category called the Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC), is that the first phase examinations will be conducted between December 20 and mid-March. Under this category, selection of SM, Guard, Office Clerk, Commercial Clerk etc. will be done. There are a total of 35,208 vacancies in this category, for which 1.26 crore applications have come.

The third and final level one category exams will be held from April 21. Under this, there are the posts of track mentor, point man etc. and the largest number of vacancies are in this category, totalling 1, 03,769. About 1.15 crore candidates have applied for them. The CBT exam for these posts was postponed due to the Coronavirus and lockdown which has been decided by the Railways to be conducted now.
