Indian Women’s Badminton Team Clinches Gold in Badminton Asia Team Championship 2024
Pune, 18th Feb 2024: In a thrilling finale on Sunday, the Indian women’s badminton team emerged victorious against Thailand, securing a historic gold medal in the Badminton Asia Team Championship 2024. The match saw an intense showdown as India and Thailand were neck and neck, tied at 2-2.
PV Sindhu led the charge for India with a stellar performance, defeating Supanida Katethong with a commanding score of 21-12, 21-12 in the singles category. Adding to the triumph, the doubles duo of Trisha Jolie and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela displayed remarkable teamwork, clinching victory against Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai with scores of 21-16, 18-21, 21-16.
Despite spirited efforts, Asmita Chaliha faced a tough challenge from Busanan Ongbamrungphan, losing with a score of 11-21, 14-21 in the singles category. Furthermore, the doubles pair of Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra couldn’t secure a win against Benyapa Aimsaard and Nuntakarn Aimsaard, facing defeat with scores of 11-21, 9-21.
The defining moment came when Anmol Kharb showcased exceptional skill, defeating Pornpicha Choeikitchong with a score of 21-14, 21-9 in the singles category, securing the gold medal for India.
