Innovative and groundbreaking research is crucial for boosting startups
Pune, 20th January 2026: Experts working in the field expressed the opinion that startup companies need technology based on creative and innovative research to thrive. The experts shared these views during a panel discussion organized by the Science and Technology Park , Puneon the occasion of National Startup Day, on the topic “Power Packed fireside brainstorming on building 10 million USD deeptech startups in 3 years” recently.
The discussion panel was led by the dignitaries including Dr. Rajendra Jagdale, Director General and CEO of Science and Technology Park, Entrepreneur Dr. Yogesh Pawar, Vivek Pawar, CEO of Deshpande Foundation, Intellectual Property expert Raghavendra Ponkshe, Gireendra Kasmalakar, Managing Partner of Pentathlon Ventures, startup mentor Gurvinder Singh, and Venture Capitalist Satya Bansal.
The number of startup companies in India is increasing significantly. The government is also providing good encouragement. There is an environment conducive to the growth of Deeptech startups in India in the coming years. It needs to be coupled with innovative research, which will not only accelerate the development of this sector but also create new opportunities, said Dr. Rajendra Jagdale, Director General and CEO of Science and Technology Park ,Pune
Venture Capitalist Satya Bansal explained that more attention needs to be paid to building a robust ecosystem for establishing startup companies. For a startup to be successful, it needs to incorporate new technologies; only then can it achieve significant success.
He also added that a great deal of confidence is required to succeed when establishing a startup company.
Gireendra Kasamalkar said that in places like Pune, many institutions are active, and it is necessary to visit them, consider how the new research being conducted there can be utilized, and then move forward.
Raghavendra Ponkshe pointed out that when starting a startup company, along with innovative research, it is also necessary to consider the market and economic progress. He emphasized that instead of just using advanced technology, it is crucial to properly consider the customer and the product before moving forward.
Gurvinder Singh said that after starting a company, one inevitably faces competition to achieve success. Therefore, if one wants to think long-term and achieve great success, everyone needs to consider how the advanced technology used in their product will be useful in the future.
Dr. Yogesh Pawar said that when starting a startup company, it is difficult to achieve success by only considering technology. Therefore, while developing a product, it is necessary to proceed by studying the three-pronged approach of science, technology, and commerce for the market. Considering this, one can understand the market needs, and thus, creating a product of that kind can be beneficial.
The experts advised that it is essential to consider the many challenges one faces when starting a startup company. Sometimes, the expected success is not achieved. It is necessary to find the reason for this at the right time. Sometimes failure occurs, but one must not forget that the goal is to move forward from it and achieve success. If you want to achieve success, do not let your thought process be interrupted.
