Pune, 5th July 2023: The internal dynamics of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Pune came to the forefront today, revealing a clear division between the Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar factions. As the NCP leaders showcased their strength in Mumbai, similar divisions emerged within the party’s ranks in Pune.

Traditionally a stronghold of the NCP, Pune has long been associated with the revered trio of Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar, and Supriya Sule. However, the recent revolt by some MLAs, including Ajit Pawar, caused confusion within the party, leaving party workers hesitant to take a definitive stance.
During the city executive meeting, the decision was made to stand by Sharad Pawar. Yet, both factions were represented by their respective office bearers at the meeting held in Mumbai today, further emphasizing the internal rift.

In Sharad Pawar’s gathering at Yashwantrao Chavan Centre, notable attendees included Pune MP Vandana Chavan, MLA Chetan Tupe, City President Prashant Jagtap, Spokesperson Ankush Kakade, and members such as Deepali Dhumal, Kaka Chavan, Saili Wanjale, Kamal Dhole Patil, Mrinalini Vani, Mahesh Hande, Balasaheb Raikar, Sharad Dabde, Kunal Pokle, Surekha Dhanishte, Ganesh Nalavde, Kishore Kamble, Vikram Jadhav. Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar’s supporters convened at MET Knowledge City in Bandra.

The evident schism within the NCP in Pune highlights the ongoing power struggle and differing loyalties between the influential Pawar factions. As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how these internal divisions will impact the party’s future in Pune and beyond.
