Pune 31st August 2023: The Pune railway station will soon be under the surveillance of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the authorities will soon install state-of-the-art ‘Internet Protocol Cameras’ at the station. These cameras, powered by AI, will monitor suspicious activities at the station and alert railway authorities promptly. The railway administration will also receive real-time information through this technology. A guiding project of 30 days will soon be initiated at the station, said officials.

To enhance the use of modern technology in operational tasks, the Railway Ministry has taken significant steps. Each railway department will now rely on advanced technology, as proposed earlier. Pune division had submitted seven projects to the headquarters, including a proposal for thermal screening devices. The installation of ‘Internet Protocol Cameras’ will soon take place at the station, with Jio Platforms’ subsidiary Jio Things Limited being entrusted with the task. Indu Dubey, the divisional railway manager, has given the final approval, marking the commencement of this project.

Four cameras will be installed at the entrance and exit gates of the railway station, as well as in the reservation center. Additionally, Geo Breeze, a device equipped with CCTVs, will also be placed, aiding in counting passengers and ensuring congestion management. These cameras will help monitor suspicious activities, ticket scalping, unauthorized practices, and other concerns. This technology will enable better enforcement of rules and regulations at the railway station.
