IPL 2023: Chennai Defeats Hyderabad By Seven Wickets

Chennai, 21st April 2023: Chennai Super Kings beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets while saving eight balls at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Friday. However, they had to remain in the third position with eight points as they could not maintain their speed. Hyderabad’s 135-run challenge for victory was overcome by CSK in the 19th over at the cost of three batsmen.

Devon Conway scored an unbeaten 77 off 57 balls for Chennai. Ruturaj Gaikwad gave him good support by scoring 35 runs. Both of them gave a powerful opening of 87 runs.

CSK, who remained in the field with the challenge of 135 runs from Sunrisers Hyderabad, made a strong start. Openers Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad started aggressively in the power play. The convo was aggressive while Ruturaj was supporting him. The two put on a partnership of 87 runs for the first wicket.

Then Ruturaj Gaikwad was run out on 35 runs. Ajinkya Rahane, who came next, also went back to the pavilion with nine runs off ten balls. After this, Rayudu also returned by adding nine runs. Due to the fall of CSK’s wickets, their running speed slowed down.

Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 134 for seven wickets in 20 overs to set a modest challenge of 135 for victory against Chennai. From Chennai, Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets for 22 runs in four overs. Abhishek Sharma top-scored for Hyderabad with 34 runs.
