Delhi, 4th April 2023: In the seventh match of the 16th season of IPL, Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals faced each other. The match between the two teams was played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In this match, Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals by six wickets. At the same time, Gujarat won the second consecutive victory and topped the points table.

 

Gujarat won the toss and elected to bowl first. Batting first, Delhi had given Gujarat a target of 163 runs. In reply, Gujarat completed the target in 18.1 overs

 

Batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 162 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. For Delhi, captain David Warner scored 37 off 32 balls and vice-captain Akshar Patel scored 36 off 22 balls. Sarfaraz Khan was dismissed for 30 and Abhishek Porel for 20. Only four out of 10 Delhi Capitals batsmen could cross double figures. Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan bowled smartly against Gujarat Titans. Both took three wickets each. Alzarri Joseph got two wickets.

 

Despite Anrich Nortje’s fantastic bowling, DC skipper David Warner retained his two overs and the Gujarat Titans batsmen took advantage. Impact players Vijay Shankar and Sai Sudarsan sealed GT’s second straight win. Sudarsan scored a half-century to help Gujarat win.

 

Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill started aggressively. In the third over, Delhi brought in veteran bowler Anrich Nortje and he took a wicket of Saha (14) for a hat-trick. Delhi’s impact player Khalil Ahmed dismissed Hardik Pandya (five) to give Gujarat their third blow.

 

After this, Warner closed Nortje’s overs and brought in other bowlers. However, the pair of Vijay Shankar and Sai Sudarsan took advantage of this by putting on a 50+ run partnership for the fourth wicket to give Delhi’s hopes a boost.

 

Mitchell Marsh broke Gujarat’s 53-run partnership for the fourth wicket in the 14th over. Vijay was LBW for 29 runs. Sudarsan completed his half-century in 44 balls. Miller scored an unbeaten 31 off 16 balls with two fours and two sixes. Sudarsan scored an unbeaten 62 off 48 balls with four fours and two sixes. Gujarat won the match by scoring 163 for four wickets in 18.1 overs.

 

Earlier, Mohammed Shami dismissed Prithvi Shaw (7) and Mitchell Marsh (4) early on. Then Alzarri Joseph took the wickets of David Warner (37) and Riley Russo (0) on two consecutive balls. Abhishek Porel (20), Sarfaraz Khan (30), and Aman Khan (8) were sent back. Rashid (3-31) and Shami (3-41) took 3 wickets each. Akshar Patel hit two fours and three sixes in 22 balls while fighting the pass and returned to 36 runs.
