Jaipur, 7th May 2023: Hyderabad overcame Rajasthan’s huge challenge of 215 runs with a six off the last ball to win the match by four wickets. The 52nd match of the season was held at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

In a match that went down to the last ball, bottom team Sunrisers Hyderabad gave Rajasthan a shock defeat. Hyderabad pulled the match to the last ball while overcoming Rajasthan’s challenge of 215 runs. With Hyderabad needing one ball and five runs to win, Sandeep Sharma caught Abdul Samad. But then a ‘no ball’ siren sounded in the stadium.

This siren was not only a no-ball but also became the scapegoat for Rajasthan’s defeat. Abdul Samad, who left the field on the previous ball, hit a six with four runs needed off one ball to give Hyderabad a thrilling match win.

Along with this, opener Abhishek Sharma who scored 55 runs, and Rahul Tripathi who supported him by scoring 47 runs off 29 balls also contributed a lot to this victory. From Rajasthan Yuzvendra Chahal took four wickets giving 29 runs in four overs.

With Glenn Phillips and Abdul Samad playing, Hyderabad needed 41 runs off 12 balls to win the match. But Glenn Phillips hit three sixes and a four in the 19th over off fast bowler Kuldeep Yadav to recover 22 runs in the first three balls.

But on the fourth ball, Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Phillips who scored 25 runs in seven balls. But with as many as 24 runs in this over, the match came to 17 runs in six balls.

Sandeep Sharma, who bowled the last over, hit a six off the second ball. But then he regained control and conceded just four runs off the next three balls. Now the match came to one ball and five runs. On the last ball, Sandeep Sharma caught Abdul Samad who was aiming for a six.

The buzz of Rajasthan’s victory was about to start everywhere when the no-ball siren sounded. This again put Sandeep under pressure to bowl the last ball. This time the target was one ball and four runs. All Samad wanted was a boundary. But without forgiving Sandeep’s mistake, Hyderabad won the match by hitting straight sixes.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals batted first and scored 214 for the loss of two wickets in 20 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. From Rajasthan, opener Jos Buttler scored 95 runs while Sanju Samson scored 66 runs to take the team past 200. Yashasvi Jaiswal also gave Rajasthan a good start by knocking 35 runs off 18 balls.
