IPL 2023: Mumbai Won Their Third Match In Row; Beat Hyderabad By 14 Runs

Hyderabad, 18th April 2023: Mumbai Indians (MI) celebrated a hat-trick of victories in the 25th match of the IPL 2023 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Mumbai won this match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 14 runs.

 

Arjun Tendulkar gave only six runs in the first over. Jason Behrendorff took the first wicket for MI in the second over as he sent Harry Brook back to the pavilion for nine runs. Behrendorff then dismissed Rahul Tripathi (7) in his second over to give SRH another blow. Two Hyderabad batsmen returned to the pavilion for 25 runs.

 

Captain Aiden Markram and Mayank Agarwal put on a partnership of 46 runs to save SRH’s innings. But, Cameron Green gave MI the wicket of Markram (22). Abhishek Sharma (1) who came in after that was dismissed by Piyush Chawla.

 

Heinrich Klaasen and Agarwal were battling it out, but SRH needed runs at an average of 12. In the 14th over, Klaassen reduced the pressure a bit by hitting 4, 6, 6, and 4 runs while targeting Piyush. But, Piyush took the chance and took the wicket of Klassen on the last ball. Klaasen returned to 36 off 16 balls with four fours and two sixes. Klaasen shared a partnership of 55 runs with Mayank.

 

Abdul Samad was fielded as an impact player. In the very next over, SRH’s set batsman Mayank was caught for 48 runs. Marco Jansen showed a glimmer of hope for the SRH fans with a few hits, but he too failed. Washington Sundar took one run lightly and was run out for 10 runs. Hyderabad could only score 178 for a loss of ten wickets.

 

Jason, Meredith, and Piyush took two wickets each. Needing 20 off six balls, Arjun ended the match by taking the wicket of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

 

Earlier, Ishan Kishan (38), and Cameron Green (64*) saved Mumbai Indians’ innings. Hyderabad’s local boy Tilak Varma increased the pace of Mumbai’s runs along with Cameron Green. Mumbai scored 83 for two wickets in the last six overs.

 

Rohit was dismissed for 28 runs with the help of six fours in 18 balls. Ishan (38) and Suryakumar Yadav (7) were dismissed by Marco Jansen in the 12th over. Tilak and Green shared a partnership of 56 runs off 28 balls. Tilak was caught for 37 off 17 balls with two fours and four sixes. Mumbai scored 192 runs for five wickets.
