IPL 2023: RCB Defeats PBKS by 24 Runs in IPL Match

Mohali, 20th April 2023: In the 27th IPL match on Thursday, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 24 runs at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali. Mohammed Siraj picked up four wickets, and Virat Kohli (59) and Faf du Plessis (84) both hit half-centuries.

RCB started giving shocks to Punjab from the first over. Jitesh Sharma tried to bring the match within reach by scoring 41 runs, but Punjab’s innings ended in 149 runs due to Mohammed Siraj’s smart bowling. RCB won the match by 24 runs.

Mohammed Siraj shocked the Punjab Kings who entered the field with a challenge to chase the target of 175 runs in the first over. He dismissed Atharva Taide for four runs. Then Matthew Short returned with eight runs and Liam Livingstone with two runs. Opener Prabhsimran Singh kept the Punjab side in check.

But Harpreet Singh Bhatia (13) and Sam Curran (10), who came to support him, went back to the pavilion early. Finally, Prabhsimran was supported by Jitesh Sharma. Both of them brought the team close to 100. But Parnell gave Punjab their sixth shock by taking the wicket of Prabhsimran for 46 runs. Shah Rukh Khan was also dismissed after scoring seven runs.

After this tumble, Jitesh Sharma fought alone from Punjab and tried to pull the match to the last over. He formed a partnership of 41 runs with Harpreet Brar. But Mohammed Siraj started bowling smartly against Punjab. He dismissed Brar for 13 and Ellis for one run to take Punjab to 149 for the loss of nine wickets. Finally, Harshal Patel dismissed Jitesh Sharma for 41 runs to end Punjab’s fight in the 19th over. Siraj took four wickets for 21 runs for RCB.
