IPL 2023: RR Beat CSK After 15 Years At Chepauk!

Chennai, 12th April 2023: In the 17th match of the IPL 2023 at Chepauk on Wednesday (12th April), Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after 15 years at their home ground.

 

Dhoni hit Sandeep Sharma for two sixes in the penultimate over when 21 runs were needed, but in the final three deliveries, CSK manager to make three singles resulting in CSK scoring 172 runs with the loss of six wickets from 20 overs in response to Rajasthan’s 175 runs.

 

After losing in-form batter Ruturaj Gaikwad early for eight runs, the hosts struggled to get going in the chase. Following a 68-run partnership between Ajinkya Rahane and Devon Conway, Ashwin took the wicket of Rahane by LBW for 31 (19) and dismissed Shivam Dube in his subsequent over.

 

When CSK reached 113-6 in 15 overs, Adam Zampa scalped one and Yuzvendra Chahal took two wickets in the same over. Ravindra Jadeja and Dhoni then took a charge and collected 59 runs in the final five overs.

 

Earlier, after inviting Rajasthan to bat, CSK was able to stop to 175 runs for eight wickets due to Jadeja’s smart bowling. Before Shimron Hetmyer joined the action and helped Rajasthan out of a tight spot, the all-rounder took two wickets on 21 runs in his allotted overs. Hetmyer hit on 18 balls, including two fours and two sixes for a total of 30 runs. Buttler kept up his strong form as well and reached 52 off of 36 balls before being dismissed by Moeen Ali.
