IPL Betting Crackdown: Pune Police Arrests 9 Persons in Kondhwa Raid

Pune, 9th April 2023: The Crime Branch of Pune City Police conducted a raid on bookies who were betting on the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in Kondhwa, Pune, last night.

 

Nine persons have been arrested during the operation, and authorities have seized one computer, three laptops, 18 mobile handsets, and a total of 5 lakh 12 thousand rupees in cash.

 

ACP Sunil Pawar and Senior Inspector of Unit-3 Shrihari Bahirat led the team responsible for the operation, under the guidance of Police Additional Commissioner Ramnath Pokle, and DCP Amol Zende.

 

The arrested individuals have been identified as Hemant Ravindra Gandhi, Ajinkya Shamrao Kolekar, Sachin Satish Ghodke, Yash Pratap Manojkumar Singh, Dharmendra Sangamlal Yadav, Ringalm Chandrasekhar Patel, Anurag Phulchand Yadav, Indrajit Gopal Mujumdar, and Satish Santosh Yadav.

 

The police received a tip-off and verified the information before conducting the raid at a flat in B wing of Bramha Angan society in Kondhwa. Nine individuals were caught in the act of betting on IPL matches at the time of the operation.

 

During the investigation, it was discovered that some of the arrested individuals were creating IDs on the LOTUS 365 link and providing them to customers. Hemant Gandhi, in particular, was found to be betting on IPL cricket matches on the Cricket Live app, earning 92 thousand rupees. He was caught with one laptop and five mobile handsets. Other individuals were also involved in creating IDs on LOTUS 365 and providing them to customers, and they were found with two laptops, one computer, and thirteen mobile handsets.

 

A case has been registered against the accused at Kondhwa police station for offences under the Gambling Act. Further investigation is going on.
