Iran-Israel-US War: Pune Civic Body Sets Up Special Help Desk for Stranded Punekars
Pune, 2nd March 2026: In view of the escalating Iran-Israel war situation, the Pune Municipal Corporation has been directed to activate a Special Help Desk and a dedicated Data Bank to assist Pune residents stranded in the conflict zone.
According to a press note issued by the Mayor’s Office on Monday, the Municipal Commissioner of Pune has ordered immediate measures after apprehensions that several Punekars, including tourists, students and business professionals, may be stuck in Iran and Israel due to the ongoing hostilities. The developments have triggered serious concern among their family members in Pune regarding their safety.
Considering the gravity of the situation and disaster management requirements, the civic administration has been instructed to take urgent steps. A dedicated 24×7 helpline cell will be set up at the Pune Municipal Corporation, and the helpline number will be announced shortly to provide round-the-clock assistance.
The administration will also prepare an official data bank of Pune residents and tourists stranded in the war-affected regions. Relatives in Pune have been asked to share key details, including the full name of the stranded person, their current overseas or hotel address, passport number, and available local contact number.
Officials said the data bank will be crucial for coordination and further action. The collected information will be immediately shared with the state government, the central government and the Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate swift efforts for the safe return of affected citizens to India.
Emphasising the seriousness of the situation, the administration has directed officials to act on a war footing to ensure timely assistance and coordination for the safety of Punekars caught in the conflict.
