IRCTC: Aadhaar Mandatory for Ticket Booking in First 15 Minutes From October 1
New Delhi, 15th September 2025: Indian Railways has announced that with effect from 1 October 2025, reserved general tickets can be booked through the IRCTC website and mobile app during the first 15 minutes of opening of general reservation only by Aadhaar-authenticated users.
According to the notification, the measure is aimed at ensuring that the benefits of the reservation system reach the genuine passengers and to prevent misuse by unauthorized elements.
There will be no change in the timings of booking of general reserved tickets through computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters of Indian Railways.
The existing restriction of 10 minutes at the time of opening of general reservation, during which authorised ticketing agents of Indian Railways are not allowed to book opening day reserved tickets, will also remain unchanged.
