Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Receives Grand Welcome in Pimpri-Chinchwad; Health Kits and Native Seed Packets Distributed to Warkaris
Nigdi, 8th July 2026: The annual Palkhi procession of Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj received a grand and devotional welcome as it entered Pimpri-Chinchwad on Wednesday. Thousands of Warkaris chanting “Ram Krishna Hari” filled the city with spiritual fervour as the revered procession arrived at Bhakti-Shakti Chowk in Nigdi.
On behalf of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Mayor Ravi Landge welcomed the Palkhi procession by felicitating its chief organisers and Veenekars (traditional devotional musicians). As part of the civic body’s welfare initiatives, first-aid health kits were distributed to every dindi participating in the procession to ensure the well-being of Warkaris during the pilgrimage. Native seed packets were also distributed to promote environmental conservation and encourage tree plantation.
The welcome ceremony was attended by MLAs Amit Gorkhe and Uma Khapre, Deputy Mayor Sharmila Babar, several elected representatives, former corporators, Additional Municipal Commissioners Kuldeep Jangam and Trupti Sandbhor, Deputy Commissioner Anna Bodade, senior civic officials and public representatives.
In view of the Palkhi procession, the municipal corporation made extensive arrangements through its engineering, electrical, health, sanitation, water supply, public relations, fire and other departments to ensure a smooth and safe passage for devotees. Officials remained on duty to provide accommodation, healthcare, drinking water, sanitation facilities, lighting, fire safety and emergency response services. The Health Department also undertook immediate cleaning of the roads after the procession moved ahead from the reception point.
The arrival of the Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi transformed Pimpri-Chinchwad into a vibrant centre of devotion, with citizens and devotees gathering in large numbers to seek blessings and chant the name of Lord Vitthal as the revered procession passed through the city.
