Pimpri-Chinchwad, September 18, 2020: Even after 20 days after the inauguration of the Jumbo Hospitals at Nehru Nagar and Chinchwad for the treatment of Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients, the hospitals are still not operating fully. As it is causing inconvenience for patients, they are demanding to make these hospitals fully available immediately.

The Jumbo Hospital at Annasaheb Magar Stadium in Nehru Nagar was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on August 24 and the Jumbo hospital at Chinchwad Auto Cluster was inaugurated on August 28 by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis. The work of Jumbo Hospital at Bhosari Balnagari is in the final stage whereas all three hospitals are not fully operational.

More than 1000 cases are found daily in the city with an increase in the death toll as well. Therefore these Jumbo hospitals should be made fully operational as soon as possible. The public representatives are suggesting that well equipped medical facilities should be set up and the faults should be rectified soon. Efforts are being taken, and it is being said that there is a delay due to the technical defects and workforce constraints.

Patients and relatives have to face many problems. Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) commissioner Sharavan Hardikar should rectify the errors and give top priority to this work, and remaining work should be completed immediately, demanded former corporator Maruti Bhapkar.

“These hospitals should have proper arrangements of ventilators, oxygen beds and ICU wards as mostly it is unavailable at the private hospitals. Strict restrictions should be imposed on hospitals that charge exorbitant bills from the patients. At the government level, there should be proper coordination between the State Government, Municipal Corporation, Collectorate, Divisional Commissioner’s Office and the PMRDA. Also, the coordination committee should be careful and control the problems and issues”, said Bhapkar.
