June 6 To Be Observed As ‘Shiv Swaraj Day’ In Maharashtra

Pune, February 18, 2021: Maharashtra Government has given nod to celebrate June 6 as ‘Shiv Swaraj Din’ across the State. This was the day when Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was crowned in 1674.

All the Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Committees and Zilla Parishads across the State will observe June 6 as Shiv Swaraj Din.  On this day ‘Gudhi’, will be erected outside the offices to observe this day. Pune Zilla Parishad (ZP) president Nirmala Pansare had taken efforts for it.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born at Shivneri fort which is in Junnar taluka of Pune district. Therefore, Pune ZP had taken initiatives to observe this day.

ZP took efforts to observe this day not only in Pune but also across the state.
