 Pune, 22nd February 2016: Pushing up the cadence of its effort to spread awareness of the benefits of yoga Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute and the Centre of Advanced study in Sanskrit, Pune University are organizing International Conference on Science and Arts of Yoga: Theory & Practice from 24 -27 February 2016 at the University Campus.

 Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute and Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University will work in harmony inexpanding the horizons of Yoga. These announcements were made at an event in the city. Present at the event were Swami Atmapriyananda, Vice-Chancellor,-Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Shri O.P.Tiwari, Secretary Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute and Prof. B.K.Dalai, Director, Centre of Advanced Studies, Pune University.

 Commenting on the same, Shri O.P. Tiwari, Secretary Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute said; “these collaborations are centered on our shared expertise, it will go a long way in quality research in the field of yoga. It is our goal to make a largenumber of people aware of the benefits of yoga. We are very happy with the association with Pune University and Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University.”

 Speaking on the occasion Swami Atmapriyananda, Vice Chancellor, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University  said; May the scientific practice of this synthetic Yoga, integral Yoga, in the individual and collective spheres, bring great blessing to the stress-torn, panic-stricken and tension-ridden humankind and promote all round wellness—physical, vital, mental, intellectual and spiritual, annamaya, pranayama, manomaya, vijnanamaya, anandamaya, is the earnest prayer of.

 

The International Conference on Science and Arts of Yoga: Theory & Practice will give a platform to Doctors, Psychologists, Yoga Practitioners and teachers of Yoga to come together and deliberate upon a theme of common interest. The conference will also highlight the role of Swami Kuvalyananda.He was the father of the evolution and understanding of Yoga in the modern scientific manner when he started Kaivalyadhama in Amalner in 1917 and then established it in Lonavla in the year 1924.

 1. The treatment in the Seminar will be multi- dimensional namely, logical, epistemological, psychological, spiritual, metaphysical and biological.

2. To try to establish a link between western and eastern method of Yoga in theory and Practice.

3. To re-examine and re-establish  or otherwise the claims of the yoga practitioners regarding the scientific basis of Yoga in attending all needs –  Physical, Psychological, Sociological as well as intellectual- of the present  generation.

4. To acquaint the usefulness and relevance of the subject to the common mass.

 Swamiji started the first research journal of Yoga in the world titled “Yoga Mimamsa” in the year 1924. Swamiji started the first college of Yoga in the year 1950. He started the first hospital of Yoga in the world in the year 1960. Swamiji taught national stalwarts such as Mathatma Gandhi, PanditMotitlal Nehru, Pandit Jawaharlal, Pandit Madam Mohan Malviya, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and many more.
