Baramulla, 5th April 2024: In a commendable display of vigilance, security forces successfully foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday. Alert troops stationed in the Rampur sector detected a group of three to four terrorists attempting to cross the LoC at Sabura Nala during the early hours of the day and promptly engaged them in an encounter, according to officials.

In a coordinated operation between the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, two terrorists were neutralized, while another managed to evade capture. The body of one terrorist was recovered by the security forces, while the body of the second terrorist remained unretrieved, as it was situated across the LoC.

During the encounter, Pakistan army posts in the vicinity of the Line of Control also opened fire on the Indian troops, presumably in an attempt to aid the terrorists and facilitate the retrieval of the body of the slain terrorist.

This incident underscores the persistent threat posed by Pakistan’s support for terrorism, particularly as India approaches general elections scheduled to take place in a month’s time. The Indian Army’s swift and decisive action serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced in the region due to cross-border infiltration and terrorism.
