Pune, 25th September 2021: “The Khed-Shivapur toll plaza on the Pune-Satara highway will not be closed but will be taken over by the National Highways Authority (NHAI) from Reliance Infrastructure till the road is completed”, said NHAI Project Director Suhas Chitnis.

Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had informed on Friday that the toll road on the Pune-Satara highway has been terminated. This has now raised the question of when will the toll be closed? There was ambiguity about this. Explaining this, the toll plaza will not be closed but will be transferred to NHAI, the Chitnis said.

“The termination of the toll means that the toll plaza on Pune-Satara highway will not be closed. The Khed-Shivapur toll plaza will be transferred from Reliance Infrastructure to the National Highways Authority for some time. During this period, the contractor, Reliance Infra, will not receive the toll. Toll plaza will remain in the possession of NHAI till the completion of the work on the highway”, he added.

Once the road work is completed, it will be handed over to Reliance Infra again. Also, the amount spent on the road work will be recovered from Reliance Infra. Chitnis also said that the process of taking toll plaza by NHAI was underway.
