Pune, 7th April 2022: After a donor from Kolhapur alleged that her kidney was removed at Ruby Hall Clinic after agents promised her Rs 15 lakh, the health department of Maharashtra state has issued a show-cause notice to the hospital.

In the notice, Ruby Hall Clinic has been asked why its license should not be suspended under Section 16 of the Hospital Organ Transplantation Act, 1994. If the hospital does not respond within 24 hours of the notice, a case will be filed against the hospital and its management staff.

As per the complaint, two agents had promised to pay Rs 15 lakh to Sarika Sutar of Kolhapur for the kidney required by patient Amit Salunke admitted to the hospital. The agents made documents of Sutar in the name of his wife Sujata Salunke and got the requisite approval after ‘verification’.

The incident came to light when Sutar was being discharged from the hospital without the promised amount. After she lodged a complaint with Koregaon Park police station (Pune city police), Ruby Hall Clinic also filed a complaint demanding a probe by the police.
