Pune, 14th February 2022: After the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) issued a revised order on February 3 for ‘unlock’ after lockdown measures due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID19) pandemic, there has been confusion among the restaurant and permit room owners about the closing hours. Many owners have alleged that police have filed khatla cases for opening till late hours.

The PMC order states that the hotels, restaurants, bars, foodcourts, cinema halls, auditoriums can remain open with 50% capacity as per their regular timings.

“Due to no specific timing mentioned, local cops come to take action and threaten to register FIR for an offence under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The matter is then settled with only Khatla”, said a restaurant owner.

Another resto-bar owner said, “The action increases during weekends.”

According to police officials, restaurants have to close by 11 pm while bars and permit rooms can remain open till 1.30 am.

Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta also confirmed the timings.
