Know the steps taken by Khadki Cantonment to stop spread of Coronavirus

Khadki (Pune), May 27, 2020: The Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) has taken many steps to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. Out of 32 COVID positive patients, most of them have been cured till now.

Administrative Steps: CEO, Kirkee has been declared as an Incident Commander and he has issued multiple orders for declaration of Micro-Containment Zones along with maps and other regulatory orders as per requirements. Initially the whole Cantonment area declared as Containment Zone immediately after detection of first case on 04 April 2020. Strict/complete lockdown implemented almost 04 times for period of 03 days with strict enforcement of Police and Effective night patrolling being carried by the Cantonment staff, numbers of FIRs, police complaints have been lodged. 09 strategic locations have been identified in the civil area for police posts for controlling the movement of the public. Strict fine / penalty were levied of defaulters for not wearing mask; not maintaining Social Distancing; for spitting; for not following rules and regulations for timings of closure.

Supply of essentials: Unnecessary movements have been restricted although; shops of essential goods were kept opened for restricted timings throughout the lockdown period (from 10.00 am to 02.00 pm). Even vegetable and fruit selling are regulated & restricted.

Effective coordination: Multiple meetings with MP; MLAs; Divisional Commissioner, District Collector, PMC Commissioner, CEO Zilla Parishad, Joint Police Commissioner, DCP, ACP & Local Police and Elected Board members along with PCB resultant into multiple donations amounting Rs 1.0 Crore as under A) Through MP, MLAs funds — Rs. 13.25 lakhs B) Through District Authorities — Rs. 50.0 lakhs  C) Through Elected Members — PPE Kits, masks, sanitizers, gloves, raw food grains, cooked food through Community Kitchen & volunteers, etc

D) Through Pvt. Public & firms – Rs 1.11 by Jain Samaj; Rs 0.53 lakhs by Bohari Samaj; fogging machines, sprayers, PPE kits by Church, hospital equipment,etc. E) Health insurance @ Rs. 50.0 lakhs for Covid Warrior. Laudable support from all the Elected Ward Members for controlling and convincing general public. Media management and public awareness — daily media coverage and public announcement, notices, hand bills, banners, for ensuring public awareness.

Health initiatives:  Cantonment Hospital, Kirkee converted as 40 bedded Dedicated Covid Health Centre (DCHC) on 17 April 2020 by District Authorities. Total 31 positive patients detected in Kirkee Cantonment area with 25 cured (80%); 02 death cases; 04 active cases. Overall 14 cases (50%) have been cured at Cantonment Hospital. 224 swabs have been collected by the Cantonment hospital. Cantonment Board’s Sports Complex converted into 40 bedded Institutional Quarantine Centre (Covid Care Centre).  Medical and para medical staff who were in direct contact of Covid patients were provided with transportation, lodging and food on rotational duties.

 

Mohalla Clinics : 16 Mohalla Clinic have been started in 04 wards of civil area, 3978 residents were examined by Pvt. Doctors on voluntary basis with support of Elected Members and their volunteers under the supervision of RMO. Apart from Mohalla Clinic multiple times house to house survey was conducted.

Improvement of immune system: Vitamin C tablets and homeopathy medicines have been distributed to Cantonment Board’s health workers and local police authorities through Cantonment Hospital. District Authorities have agreed for 6000 vitamin C & D doses for the citizens of most affected areas in the civil area of the Cantonment Board.

Sanitization and Effective Social Distancing: Whole Cantonment covered with continuous spraying of disinfectant and effective fogging health kiosk (Cloud clinic ATM), hand wash at public places, thermal scanning, check up oxy meter and of the Cantonment area being undertaken.
