Kush Maini Makes History with F2 Victory in Monaco, Boosts India’s Motorsport Legacy

Monaco / New Delhi, 25th May 2025: Indian racing driver Kush Maini created history on Saturday by becoming the first Indian to win a Formula 2 race at the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix, securing a lights-to-flag victory in the Sprint Race. Driving for DAMS Lucas Oil, Maini showcased flawless skill, composure, and strategic brilliance across 30 laps on one of motorsport’s most iconic circuits. In a proud and emotional moment, Maini sang the Indian national anthem on the podium, marking a historic milestone not just for himself, but for the entire nation.
Starting from pole position—courtesy of F2’s reverse grid rule—Maini led from the front, holding off constant pressure to register his maiden F2 win and first podium with DAMS. The 24-year-old also serves as a reserve driver for BWT Alpine F1 Team.
“P1 and first Indian to win at Monaco. It’s a dream come true,” Maini said after the race. “I want to thank DAMS and everyone who’s supported me. We keep believing.”
The victory arrives at a crucial point in the season, giving a confidence boost to Maini after a tough start. His composed drive not only secured personal glory but marked a landmark moment for Indian motorsport.
Business leaders across India celebrated the moment. Anand Mahindra, chairman of Mahindra Group, lauded the feat on X: “You are standing tall, @kmainiofficial, and the country stands tall with you.” Gautam Singhania, a longtime supporter via JK Racing, embraced Maini in the pit lane, celebrating the culmination of years of backing alongside TVS Racing.

Maini now sets his sights on Sunday’s Feature Race and the next round in Barcelona, with momentum firmly on his side.
