Lok Adalat in Pune Resolves Over 1 Lakh Claims, Recovers Rs 396 Crore

Pune, 11th September 2023: A Lok Adalat held in Pune from August 28th to September 9th witnessed the resolution of an impressive 1,10,192 pending claims, marking a significant stride towards legal dispute settlement. The outcome of this endeavor resulted in the recovery of a substantial settlement fee amounting to Rs 396 Crore and 2 Lakh 99 Thousand 200.
Sonal Patil, Secretary of the Pune District Legal Services Authority, provided details about this noteworthy achievement. The Lok Adalat was executed under the guidance of Principal District Judge and Chairman of Pune District Legal Services Authority, Shyam Chandak.
During this period, a staggering 2,16,086 pre-filed claims were brought before the Lok Adalat for resolution. Impressively, 79,956 of these claims found amicable settlements, leading to the collection of a compromise fee totaling Rs 76 Crore 21 Lakh 94 Thousand 253.
Furthermore, out of 72,477 pending cases, an impressive 30,236 were successfully settled, amounting to a compromise fee of Rs 319 Crore 81 Lakh 4 Thousand 947. To facilitate dispute resolution, 133 panels were constituted for pre-filing claims.
The range of cases resolved was extensive, encompassing 3,552 claims related to bank loan recovery, 29,385 criminal offences eligible for compromise, 157 electricity payment disputes, 71 labor dispute cases, 103 land acquisition cases, 146 cases from the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, 285 matrimonial disputes, 2,212 cases of cheque bounce, 924 other civil claims, and 68,180 water tax disputes. The grand total of claims settled stands at an impressive 1,10,192, which includes 18 disputes and 5,186 other claims.
