Lonavala: Bungalow and Boat Owners Booked for Negligence after Two Friends Lose Lives at Pawana Dam

Lonavala, 7th December 2024: Two men drowned in Pawana Dam in Maval taluka of Pune district after a boat capsized on Wednesday evening. A case of negligence has been registered against the bungalow and boat owners following a complaint filed by the relatives of one of the deceased, Tushar Ahire, at the Lonavala Rural Police Station, Pune rural police.

The victims, Tushar Ahire and Mayur Bharasake, both residents of Bhusawal, were visiting the Pawana Dam area with friends on December 4. They were staying at Lake Escape Villa, a bungalow located near the backwaters of the dam. The villa offers direct access to the reservoir.

According to Lonavala Rural Police Inspector Kishor Dhumal, the group used a boat belonging to Sumati Viva to venture into the dam. While boating, the vessel capsized, causing Tushar and Mayur to fall into the water. Both drowned as they misjudged the depth of the reservoir.

A complaint was filed by the relatives of Tushar Ahire, holding the bungalow and boat owners accountable for their alleged negligence. Police have registered a case under relevant sections and are conducting further investigations.
