Lonavala: Family Fined Rs 50,000 For Inviting 76 Guests In Wedding Ceremony, FIR Registered Against Hotel Owner

Pune, 30th April 2021: Pune rural police has imposed a penalty of Rs 50,000 on a family for inviting 76 guests to a marriage ceremony at a hotel in Lonavala.

Police Inspector Dilip Pawar of Lonavala City police station said that the district administration has imposed lockdown and only 25 guests are allowed in marriages. Also, prior NOC of the local police station is required for organising the wedding ceremony.

“There were 76 guests at the wedding at Hotel Grand Visava. NOC was also not taken. During the investigation, we found that 38 rooms were booked for the wedding of Sukheja and Parswani families. We have imposed Rs 50,000 fine on Kumar Parswani and Rs 14,000 fine on 14 people for violating the social distancing norms”, Inspector Pawar informed.

Hotel owner Hemant Makhija (42), a resident of Ulhasnagar, Thane, has been booked for offences under sections 188 and 269 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant section of the Epidemic Disease Act.

The action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Dr Abhinav Deshmukh and DySP (Lonavala division) Navnit Kanwat.
