Pune, 1st June 2025: Lost your vehicle’s Registration Certificate (RC)? Don’t worry—thanks to digital initiatives by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, vehicle owners can now easily download their RC online using official platforms like the Vahan portal, DigiLocker, or the mParivahan app.

An RC is a vital document that proves vehicle ownership. Whether you’re navigating city streets or heading out on a road trip, carrying your RC is essential. In most routine traffic checks, the police specifically ask for two key documents—your driving licence and your RC.

Now, if your physical RC is lost or misplaced, there’s no need to visit the RTO or panic. Here’s how you can retrieve it digitally:

✅ Downloading RC via the Vahan Portal:

  1. Visit the official Vahan portal
  2. Click on Online Services > Vehicle Related Services
  3. Select your state and log in using your registered mobile number and OTP
  4. Enter your vehicle registration number and chassis number
  5. Look for options like Download Document or RC Print (label may vary)
  6. Download and save your RC

✅ Downloading RC via DigiLocker:

  1. Open the DigiLocker app or website
  2. Log in using the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar
  3. Go to Ministry of Road Transport and Highways
  4. Select Registration Certificate, enter vehicle details
  5. Ensure Aadhaar name matches RC details
  6. Preview and download—your digital RC will appear under Issued Documents

The digital RC is legally valid and accepted by traffic authorities across India. It can also be used for processes like vehicle resale, loan applications, or to verify legal ownership.
