Hadapsar, 28th March 2026: A 65-year-old woman died after suffering a suspected heart attack while watching a Ram Navami procession with loud DJ music in the Sasane Nagar area of Hadapsar on Friday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Ranjana Ravindra Jadhav (65), a resident of Lane No. 12 in Sasane Nagar. The incident occurred around 8 pm on the main road in the area where several local mandals had organised processions to mark the Ram Janmotsav celebrations.

According to residents, six mandals had taken out processions along the road, using high-volume DJ sound systems. Jadhav had stepped out of her house after finishing household work to watch the procession.

Within a short time, she reportedly began experiencing chest pain and collapsed on the road. Due to the loud music from the DJ systems, her cries for help initially went unnoticed.

Women accompanying her later realised that she had collapsed and immediately arranged an autorickshaw to take her to a hospital. However, heavy traffic congestion caused by the procession delayed their journey to the hospital.

Doctors later declared that she had died before being brought to the hospital. Jadhav was a retired employee of the College of Military Engineering (CME) in Pune.

Her son, Saurabh Jadhav, alleged that the extremely loud DJ music contributed to his mother’s distress and eventual death. He also claimed that despite the presence of police personnel at the site, there was no control over the sound levels. He further said that traffic congestion due to the procession caused a delay in reaching the hospital.

The incident has triggered anger among residents in the Sasane Nagar area, with many expressing strong displeasure towards the procession organisers and the police. Locals have demanded stricter action against processions that cause excessive noise pollution and traffic blockades.

A doctor from the area also claimed that such high-decibel DJ systems during processions can severely affect patients, sometimes even forcing hospitals to halt scheduled surgeries due to the intense noise.

Attempts to contact Senior Police Inspector Mansing Patil of Kalepadal police station for a comment on the incident were unsuccessful.
