Varandha Ghat Road Closed Till April 30 for Repairs, Pune Collector Issues Order
Pune, 28th March 2026: The Varandha Ghat road, an important mountain route connecting Pune and Raigad districts, has been temporarily closed for repair and strengthening work, the district administration said.
Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi has issued an official notification regarding the closure. The decision has been taken to facilitate road repairs, strengthening and other safety-related works in the Hirdoshi area within the Pune district limits.
According to officials, the condition of the road had deteriorated at several stretches in the ghat section, increasing the risk of accidents. The temporary closure has therefore been implemented to ensure the safety of motorists and allow uninterrupted repair work.
The restriction came into effect on March 25 and will remain in force until April 30. The administration has appealed to local residents, commuters and tourists to avoid the route during this period and use alternative roads.
Varandha Ghat is known for its scenic views and attracts a large number of tourists, especially during weekends and holidays. However, due to the ongoing repair work, visitors will have to wait until the route reopens.
The administration has urged the public to cooperate with the authorities and prioritise safety during the repair period.
