LPF 20th Year Celebration – holding hands of 285 additional daughters

Pune, October 30, 2015: 285 deserving girls were awarded scholarships at an event organised to mark the 20th year of Lila Poonawalla Foundation.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Anant Talaulicar (MD & Chairman, Cummins India Ltd). and theGuest of Honour Mr. Shishir Joshipura (MD, SKF India) happily gave away certificates  to 285 deserving girls for post graduate and undergraduate studies in various streams in Science, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy and Diploma in Education.. The function was well organized and a great success. It was attended by a large number of well wishers and partners. The parents of the awardees also participated with equal enthusiasm.

On this occasion, Chairperson of LPF, Padmashree Lila Poonawalla said that “education is the foundation of strong and successful career. She emphasized that education is important for a girl not only to make her economically independent but to enable her to participate in decision making and also contribute to the development of the whole family.  She stressed on the fact that parents have to encourage their daughters to opt for education and not force them into early marriages. I want to motivate girls to step out with confidence and encourage them to meet the challenges of the 21st century,”

The chief guest, Mr. Anant Talaulicar (MD & Chairman, Cummins India Ltd), who also partners LPF in this post graduation program, said “LPF is an unique foundation because it not only gives scholarship to the under privileged or disadvantaged students but also takes the ownership of these girls by taking them under the LPF umbrella thus making them an integral part of LPF family. He advised young girls that always have a hunger for learning and earning.”

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Shishir Joshipura (MD, SKF India), said “ SKF is extremely content to be partnering LPF in both Post graduation and Science graduation program. SKF not only joined hands for this noble work by offering financial assistance but also providing infrastructure for their various training programs, which enable these young girls who are struggling to turn their dreams into reality
