Implementing the double-decker via-duct project on Wardha Road was a major challenge. It is part of a three-level structure with metro rail at the top, highway flyover at the middle level and existing road at ground level. The 3.14 km double-decker viaduct is the longest structure in any metro rail system in the world. Maha Metro had applied for the Guinness World Record (GWR). The Indian representative of GWR followed the same and studied the proposal with its technical team. The team then approved the same and announced Guinness World Record certification to Maha Metro. A detailed study was done on this proposal. After that, Guinness World Records accepted the claim of Maha Metro and announced a Guinness World Record.

It is a moment of pride for the Maha Metro project to be recognised for this prestigious and world-renowned record. There is no doubt that Maha Metro will set more records shortly. Getting recognized by Guinness World Records is a true indication of how well Mahametro is implementing the project.

On this occasion, the Managing Director of Maha Metro, Dr Brijesh Dixit, said, “Mahametro completed the highly technically complex construction of 3.14 km double-decker viaduct at Wardha Road with the joint efforts of National Highways for the convenience of citizens. Therefore, the traffic system on Wardha Road has become smooth. Every employee of Mahametro is proud of this viaduct getting a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.”
